Virtual summits are no different and once you've decided on some of the basic planning elements for your event, you'll want to start thinking about your virtual summit registration funnel and how you'll move attendees from potential to confirmed in the best way possible!
A virtual summit is a great way for entrepreneurs and professionals to share their knowledge, connect with their audience, and grow their businesses. And if you set them up right from the very start, you and your speakers will see more success once the event is in full swing as well as long after it's over.
In this blog post, I will explore the key components of a virtual summit registration funnel that
- starts with offering a free ticket with 24-hour access
- leads to a limited-time fast action offer for an all-access pass
- includes an upsell or additional offer for a bonus bundle
Let's get started!
Offering a Free Ticket With Event Registration
The first step in creating an engaging registration funnel is to offer a free ticket on your event registration page.
This serves as an enticing incentive for potential attendees to sign up for your virtual summit in a very low-pressure high-value way. By providing valuable content and insights during the event, you can build trust and establish yourself as an authority in your niche.
So make sure to highlight the benefits of attending the virtual summit on your registration page. Clearly communicate the value participants will receive from attending, such as gaining access to expert presentations, networking opportunities, and exclusive resources.
- Offer a free ticket that provides 24 hours of free access
- Make it simple to register by asking for just an email address and first name
- Consider providing a virtual swag bag with all free tickets to make sure you start off by providing immediate value
Having a free ticket also makes it easy for your speakers to promote the event to their list without feeling like they are selling something! They can ease in mentions of the free event or a free ticket into emails, social posts as well as in video and audio content like podcasts!
Limited Time Fast Action Offer for Paid Tickets
Once attendees have registered for the free ticket, it's time to present them with a limited-time fast-action offer! This is where the first reveal of your paid virtual event tickets will be made.
The All Access Pass (AAP)
The all-access pass provides one year of access to the event videos, allowing participants to revisit sessions at their convenience.
This added value and the added convenience of watching the video sessions, when they have time, encourages attendees to upgrade their experience from a free ticket to a paid ticket and take full advantage of the summit content and ultimate goal.
The VIP Pass
Take your AAP to the next level by adding in a speaker bundle of goodies to increase its overall value and your conversion rate!
This bundle could include free courses, templates, tools, and resources provided by the speakers of the virtual summit. By offering this additional value at a discounted price, you can increase your event conversion rates and provide attendees with not just the access to the videos for information and education, but also the tools they need to make the next step!
Your Fact Action Offer
When crafting your fast action offer, emphasize the scarcity factor by highlighting that it's only available for a limited time only. I suggest providing a short 15-20 minute window to buy the all-access pass at a discounted rate
I also suggest not making this a lifetime deal, as most people will delay utilizing the information and actually achieving the goal of your summit. I've done 6 months -1 year on most of my events and this has worked really well.
2 Ways To Present Your Paid Tickets
There are many ways you can present your paid tickets to potential attendees ranging from just showing all the options up front on your event registration page to intricate funnels built behind the system that target specific attendees' needs and wants.
I like to keep things simple while still creating a nice event flow and attendee experience, so I'll be highlighting 2 ways to create an easy funnel strategy.
Option #1: VIP First Then Upsell (Preferred)
- If they buy:
- Awesome! You just sold them the bigger offer and they are all set!
- If you have videos from previous events, present them with an upsell offer to buy those.
- Take them to a thank you page with information on how to redeem their goodies, log in, attend the event, etc...
- Add them to your buyer's welcome sequence.
- If they don't buy:
- Bummer, but you still have time to show the value and change their minds.
- Add them to your event registration and upsell sequence that will present the offer a few more times with some additional nurture content!
- If they still haven't purchased after the event, you can also present them with the option to just buy access to the videos in your AAP as a downsell, that will most likely be much cheaper.
Option #1: AAP First Then Upsell
- If they buy:
- Awesome! You just sold them extended access to the event videos.
- Now you can show them the optional upgrade to the VIP Pass, by adding on the speaker bonus bundle!
- If they buy this, you can show them another option to purchase previous year's videos or just take them straight to a thank you page with relevant information to make the most of the event and their purchase.
- Add them to your buyer's welcome sequence, and deliver the bundle goodies either via email to those who purchase or inside your event website... I like the email option personally!
- If they don't buy:
- Again, this is a bummer, but you still have time to show the value and change their minds.
- Add them to your event registration and upsell sequence. Try to send helpful content that showcases the usefulness and need for the event trainings that will help them achieve their big goal!
See, it can be pretty simple and straightforward while still drawing out the best pieces of a funnel!
Virtual Summit Registration Funnels
Creating a well-designed registration funnel is crucial for maximizing conversions and revenue for your virtual summit.
By starting with a free ticket offer on your event registration page that hopefully includes a well put together virtual event swag bag, and then leading attendees to a limited-time fast action offer for a paid ticket, you can engage your audience and encourage them to upgrade their experience.
Additionally, by offering additional value outside of just the extended access to the event videos with things like speaker products and services, you'll provide further value to your attendees while increasing your revenue potential.
Lastly, remember to continuously analyze and optimize your funnel based on attendee feedback and conversion data. This will help you refine your approach and ensure that your virtual summit attracts engaged participants who are eager to learn and grow.
Get ready to create a powerful registration funnel that not only boosts attendance but also delivers exceptional value to your virtual summit attendees!
