The Right Way To Use Kajabi Podcast For A Virtual Summit
Nov 01, 2024Over the past several years, I've had the privilege of working with a variety of clients and platforms to produce virtual summits, digital conferences, and even virtual job fairs.
Recently, I encountered a unique challenge that highlighted a potential pitfall when using the Kajabi Podcast feature for a private podcast feed, how we love to offer them.
The client, eager to save costs, insisted on using Kajabi Podcast instead of our usual go-to platform, Hello Audio, for their private podcast feed. Not thinking it through and pretty much not knowing this was a thing... we set up a private podcast to release all the episodes from each day at the same time the daily playlist was released.
And while this decision seemed logical at first, we quickly realized on Day 1 during the live event, that there were limitations and drawbacks.
The Kajabi Podcast Dilemma
The primary issue we encountered was the lack of control over email notifications.
Kajabi automatically sends a new email notification for each new podcast episode, which can quickly become overwhelming for attendees. This is especially problematic for virtual summits with multiple daily episodes being released at the same time, as it can lead to email overload.
While Kajabi is a powerful all-in-one platform, its podcasting feature is not specifically designed for high-volume, daily releases. It's better suited for more infrequent releases or evergreen content because at this time there is no way to turn off these email notifications.
Here's a better approach...
Leveraging Kajabi Podcast for Pre-Event Engagement
Despite its limitations, Kajabi Podcast can be a valuable tool for virtual summit producers. One effective strategy is to use it to create a pre-event podcast series, which I effectively did in my very first Kajabi Virtual Summit called Teach Me How To Summit.
During that event, I recorded pre-event interviews with selected speakers to offer a behind-the-scenes look into how they run their virtual summits. I then released the episodes each Monday for a little over a month leading up to the event.
You can do the same or something similar by releasing 1-3 episodes per week leading up to the summit:
- Build anticipation: Generate excitement and anticipation among your audience.
- Deliver valuable content: Share insights, tips, and behind-the-scenes glimpses.
- Establish rapport: Connect with your audience on a personal level.
- Drive early sign-ups: Incentivize early bird registrations with exclusive podcast content.
With this approach, the frequency of email notifications is less likely to become a nuisance, as attendees will be actively anticipating each new episode. And you'll be providing registered attendees with helpful content before the event even starts.
Solution for High-Volume Podcast Feeds
If you need to release multiple podcast episodes per day during your virtual summit, consider using my personal favorite platform, Hello Audio.
We've used Hello Audio for many of our events as well as client events that wanted to expand accessibility and offer an audio-only feed for people to listen on the go.
This platform is specifically designed for podcasting and offers advanced features like custom RSS feeds, email notifications, and player customization. It's an excellent choice for virtual summits, as it allows you to control the frequency and timing of email notifications.

In Conclusion
While Kajabi Podcast can be a useful tool for pre-event engagement, it's important to be aware of its limitations when it comes to high-volume, daily releases. By strategically planning your content and choosing the right platform, you can deliver a high-quality podcast experience that enhances your virtual summit.
Remember, the goal is to provide value and engagement, not overwhelm your audience with excessive emails. By carefully considering your options and following these best practices, you can create a successful podcast strategy that complements your virtual summit.
